Car Insurance Mercury (Car Insurance). how do i build a 350 for a truck?how do i build a 350 for a truck? I own a 1987 silverado 4x4 its got that stock tbi 350(4bolt) with a 400 t tranny. I plan on fixing it up so i have some questions on building a 350 small block for a truck. What is the best way to get that low torque and hp? What would be a good set of heads? Good Tbi carb? Should i chang the hydrolic lifter to solid lifters? Whats a good cam? I would like to keap the truck nice n simple with a good amount of power, but not some 12-mpg gas hog. well first off how much power you want? you dont want a huge cam something under .460 lift will do ya. dont use a solid lifter cam, if your not using the fuel injection then vortec heads make pretty good power. i used a set and i got my z28 in the 13's. flat top pistons with those heads will give you around 9.5 - 1 compression which is good. i like holley carbs get a 4150 carb. edelbrocks work too. quadrajets are good if you can get it tunes right. this will make a good engine with some good torque. ' ***EDIT*** Drugs are bad Mkay... It don't have to be 12 mpg or less. If the combo is built right you can get good fuel mileae even with a 3 speed trnsmission. go to summitracing.com and you can buy a complete rebuild kit, i would suggest a lower lift cam for low end torque, on the pistons i would reccomened flat top to help your compression ration and yes go carb! also on cam i would go straight hydraulic on cam/lifters, on the heads i would go to salvage yard and find a set of vortec heads they flow really good for stock heads.. again on cam i wouldnt go with anything over a .435 lift Auto parts : Muffler Acura 1995 . Crankshaft / camshaft position sensor? Hello, I have a 1999 Corolla that acts like it has a rev-limiter after the engine is up to temp and I try to accelerate hard like to pass another car. When it is cool and has not reached temp yet(temp gauge is still low)the problem doesn't happen. I can accelerate and pass like it should. When engine is up to temp I can cruise all day long at 65-70 mph but if I put my foot down to accelerate the engine misfires. I have put new plugs, wires, coils, temp sensor, ECM. The fuel filter is not plugged. As I said, the engine is flawless until it begins to warm up...then it will begin to misfire at a certain RPM everytime. Very predictable. It will not misfire in drive with my foot on the brake and other on the gas stalling the converter because it has not reached that certain RPM. It feels like about 3000 to 3500 rpm where the misfire begins and the engine WILL NOT rev beyond that RPM....just like a rev limiter. HELP ME car insurance. Auto parts : Oil Filler Tube Scion 1999. Mercury . How to Repair a Dragging DoorIf your car door is dragging, its because at least the top hinge is bad. If not taken care of, this will eventually lead to damage to the lower hinge and other parts of the car. You need to replace the damaged hinges as soon as possible, whether you need to change the whole hinge or just the pin linking the two pieces together. It's best to let a professional body shop take care of this if at all possible. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Jack stands or blocks Towels Assistant Trim stick Screwdriver Scribe Punch and hammer Wrench Door hinges Hinge pinsPreparation Step by Step : 1 Open the door and confirm if one or both of the hinges is bent, warped or otherwise damaged. If only the top hinge is a problem, you don't have to remove both hinges and can skip steps 3 and 4. 2 Brace the door while it is open. You'll need at least a block or jack stand under the door, placing towels on the stand to protect the paint job. You also can support the door with a long chain strung from an exposed ceiling joist, but you may have to settle for a second person holding the door. 3 Disconnect the door's inner trim panel. Pry off all smaller trim panels with a trim stick, remove the power controls with the same stick or unclip the window crank with a hooked tool, unscrew the mounting screws, pry the panel off its clips and lift the panel off. 4 Disconnect all electrical connectors within the door and route them out the door through one of the access holes. This is needed to prevent the wires from getting damaged should the door accidentally fall. Repairing the Door Step by Step : 1 Mark the borders of the hinges along the door and the body side so you know where the hinges fit on the door. Use a pen or a scribe. 2 Drive the hinge pins out of the hinges if they are the cause of the problem. Use a punch and hammer on the "pointed" ends of the pins; this should be the bottom end of the pin on the upper hinge and the top end on the lower hinge. 3 Unbolt and remove the hinges with a wrench, making sure your assistant has a firm grip on the door--especially if you're removing both hinges. Some vehicles have the hinges welded on or connected in some other way besides bolts. Only an expert mechanic should work on those hinges. 4 Fasten the new hinge(s) in place, installing them in the same location with the scribe marks as a guide. Use any new bolts that come with the replacement hinge(s) if they come with them. 5 Drive new hinge bolts into the hinges if needed, driving then so they point in the same direction as the previous hinges. 6 Reconnect all the wires and the trim panel in the reverse order that you removed everything. 7 Check the door's level. The top edge should align with he top edge of the fenders, and there should be no more than 1/16" of movement when shaking the door up and down.
Mercury . Mercedes Door Lock ProblemsAge, wear and tear can take its toll on even the finest of cars. This even includes the Mercedes-Benz automobile. Regular maintenance can prevent some problems, but servicing your car as soon as a problem surfaces can keep things from escalating. Several types of door lock problems have been identified across the Mercedes line, but with identifiable solutions--including some you can handle yourself. Lock Failure If all of the locks on your Mercedes fail to open (or close) first check your key fob to make certain that its battery is working. Replace the worn out battery, if necessary. If key fob is working, you may have a faulty key fob, which can be repaired or replaced by taking it to your dealer. If just one lock won't open on your Mercedes, then the problem may rest with broken wiring, a bad solenoid, or perhaps with a blown fuse. Check your fuse box first to determine if a blown fuse is keeping the lock from working. If so, replace the fuse. You likely have a shorted door lock actuator, which you can replace with a new unit for the lock that is not working. If a door unlocks, but will not lock again, then replace the door switch. Perhaps your Mercedes locks work, but they open and close slowly. Apply WD-40 or equivalent product directly into the lock; open and close lock to recalibrate. NHTSA Recall The National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall for select 2009 Mercedes S-Class sedans. That recall involved fixing the side door locks on affected models which might have been exchanged during production. According to the NHTSA, "...the exchange of a front and a rear passenger side door lock would result in a passenger side door that cannot be opened by merely pulling on the interior handle and a rear door lock that can be opened with a simple pull of the interior door handle even if locked." If you own this make/model/year car, contact Mercedes-Benz at (800) 367-6372 for assistance. *Figure 12-49: Timing mark locations on other vehicles. If you can't move the fan by hand, remove the big wire from the center of your distributor cap and lay it on an unpainted metal part (not the car buretor!) to ground it. Then turn the key in the ignition to "bump" the starter without starting the engine. Doing so turns the crankshaft pulley, and as the pulley turns, a set of lines should come into view. These are your timing marks. A pointer attached to the engine block usually points to these marks. To set your timing, you have to get the pointer to point to the correct timing mark while the engine is running. Figures 12-48 and 12-49 show where the timing marks may be on your vehicle. 585

The spec sheet (refer to Figure 12-1) will say something like "10°@550," which means that you want to line the pointer up with the 10° timing mark when the engine is idling at 550 rpm. The spec sheet may say something about BTDC or ATDC. This simply means that your timing marks will have a line labeled 0, with marks above and below it. The 0 is top dead center (TDC). Depending on the direction that the wheel rotates, the lines that come into view before the 0 (or TDC mark) are "before top dead center" (BTDC), and the ones that appear after TDC are "after top dead center" (ATDC). In case you're curi ous, "top dead center" is the point at which the piston reaches its highest point in the cylinder and compression is greatest. (How's that Mercury . Attached to the side of your distributor is a round gizmo called a vacuum advance. Disconnect the little rubber hose that comes from it, and put a piece of tape on the end of the hose — or stick a screw in it — to seal it off (see Figure 12-50). Some vehicles have distributors without vacuum advance mechanisms. If you have one of those vehicles, you may need to disconnect a special electrical connector. Consult a service manual or call your dealership if your vehicle has no vacuum advance. 11. Start your engine, making sure that your emergency brake is on and that you're in Park or Neutral. If you have no tach/dwell, check the idle speed on the dashboard tachometer. If your car isn't idling at the proper speed, you have to adjust your idle. Adjusting the idle is a simple matter of turning one screw, so don't be dismayed. You can find instructions for doing this in the section called "Adjusting idle speed screws" in Chapter 13.
